Description
Braxxton was an American melodic hardrock act from Utah formed in 1984 by brothers Dan and Tim Smith along with schoolmates Jeff Alleman and Erik Brinkman. Both Jeff and Tim were into Def Leppard, Iron Maiden, Scorpions, Judas Priest, all these amazing twin lead guitar bands and were wanting to do the same thing with Braxxton. Erik was a very mellow and cool guy who really liked Van Halen, and provided a more melodic approach. In December of 1985 Jeff Bagford joined as lead vocalist and as soon they had found their lead singer they felt it was time to enter a professional studio. They initially planned to record just two songs, Living In The Shadow Of Your Love and In The Night. Those were put down on January 6, 1986 but when they heard how good they turned out, Jeff Alleman quickly started to write new songs. So the band returned in June of 1986 and recorded seven more songs. The end result was American Rock N Roll a cassette that the band released themselves in 1986. The music is pure 80s American melodic rock. They looked and sounded like the typical American band at the time. The guys were young at the time, but they sounded sensational, with superstrong vocals, picture-perfect guitarwork and a handful of great catchy uptempo rockers, such as Fading Away, In The Night and Taking On The World, although they also included a typical 80s Power Ballad in the shape of Never Give Up On Love. 35 years later we see this cassette finally getting a cd release.
