A year after ‘Skunkworks’, Dickinson joined up with former Maiden guitarist Adrian Smith and made a more defined return to classic form. Some say that this is where Bruce Dickinson really got his act together and formed made a top notch heavy metal album and an album that even surpasses many of the latter-day Maiden efforts. ‘Accident of Birth’ in an inventive and excellent metal album that in a perfect world should have been huge but sadly in the late 90s metal was on the wane commercially and the following tour had Bruce playing the Carling Academies of the world. But still regardless this is a truly essential album and one of the best metal albums of 1990.
