Description

Rare album on gold vinyl. Limited 200 copies

Celtic Frost is considered by many to be the forefathers of avant-garde metal. They started out playing very heavy material, as seen on their highly influential album Morbid Tales. On subsequent albums, they focused on using experimental elements to a greater degree. Not many bands have been able to successfully meld thrash with classical and folk mores. Few bands have taken as many artistic risks as they have and survived. Whenever the history of black metal is discussed, it must be noted that it originated from the big three, Bathory, Venom, and Celtic Frost. In 2001, Celtic Frost reformed to begin recording a self-funded album, which turned out to be 2006’s Monotheist. The autumn of 2006 saw Celtic Frost out on their biggest US tour ever. The tour started on September the 12th I Springfield and ended on November the 11th. This album captures the band live on September the 15th on the second night at BB Kings in New York City. Support acts for the the night were 1349 and Sahg. Celtic Frost took the stage with a hero’s welcome. In fact, Tom Gabriel was frequently smiling in amazement at the reception and the band had a dominant, thick bass guitar sound.
