Into The Pandemonium was the Celtic Frost most complex and most pivotal and pronounced statement in the bands career. The album merged extreme metal with the band’s passion for an early Wave scene dominated by acts such as Bauhaus, Wall of Voodoo or Siouxie and the Banshees. The band went out on their One In Their Pride Tour to promote the album the I Won’t Dance EP. The band had to ad an additional guitarist in order to enable the live performance of the increasingly complex songs. The line-up for the tour was Ron Marks (guitar/vocals), Reed St. Mark (drums/percussion), Tom Gabriel Warrior (voice/guitar) and Martin Eric Ain (Bass/vocals). The One In Their Pride added Virus and Kreator as opening acts and the band hit the UK for 6 dates in October of 1987. This album was recorded at the bands third date, which took place at the Rock Tiy in Notthingham on the 27rd of October 1987. Sound engineer on this UK tour was the renown Big Mick Hughes of Metallica and Led Zeppelin fame. The album is not just a must for being recorded at the bands peak but also for some of the musical rarities played here. Jihad was an early version of A Descent To Babylon, Barrel Fear was an embryonic version of the song Vanity, which might give you an idea of what that album could have sounded like with Reed St Mark on drums. And while talking about Reed St Mark we can also mention that this live recording has his drum solo and an improvised jam performed with Ron Marks and Reed St. Mark. Ron was a big fan of Led Zeppelin and he would occasionally throw in quotes from the Physical Graffiti album, here you can hear traces of Kashmir. The successful world tour while at the same time being in a twelve months of legal disagreements with record company Noise Records, who had repeatedly tampered both with the group’s artistic freedom, had exerted too much pressure on the line-up and also taken a devastating financial toll. Celtic Frost had defended the group’s paramount principle of artistic integrity virtually to the point of total destruction and this classic line-up fell apart after the tour.
