Description

Through 9 days and 9 nights, the soul of a young man falls like an anvil from the sky, and breaks through the ground to its deepest point. Once he awakes, he finds out, horrified, that his body was left behind in the fire that made him die. The sky looks like a rock dome, and the ground is covered in ashes. Before him, and infinite lake, and in the distance, a figure that comes closer, sailing over the condemned souls that couldnt make it to the other side. It is then when he realizes where he is, and who’s coming aboard to meet him. Every soul has to pay to cross, but this time, the ferryman doesn´t doubt and asks him to get on board. His orders are precise: To take the young man to his father, the same God that sealed his fate, and is awaiting in the depths of Hell. This is the concept of Chaos Before Geas second album Kharon. The Spaniards play ultra-technical extreme metal, with alternating clean vocals and grunts. Those alternating vocals you hear the best in the super diverse The Voice (appropriate title). The music can be described as a kind of extreme progressive metal, or something like that. Just give the music the name you think is appropriate, who cares. Fact is that it’s technical and that it is steaming out of your speakers. As an extreme version of a band like Into Eternity. Or does nobody knows that band (anymore)? The music is played super intense, while the album sounds very clear and transparent. That alone is well done and a real plus when it comes to assessing this kind of music. A lot of different tempos, atypical chords and schemes, strange breaks: you can hear it all on Kharon. Take it to your advantage.
