After achieving no small amount of fame as the powerhouse drummer behind Twisted Sister, drummer A.J. Pero quit the sick motherf**kers in 1985 to return to the very band he’d abandoned to join them: New York City underground favourites Cities. Reconnecting with vocalist Ron Angell, guitarist Steeve Mironovich and bassist Mayne, he picked up right where they’d left off with the recording of the following year’s ‘Annihilation Absolute’ album, It had first been released as an EP in 1985 but then re-recorded with Pero on drums and with three new tracks to expand it to a full-length for its 1986 release. The one and only album helped Cities to garner quite a cult following in its day. If you missed out on this band the first time then now its time to discover one of American metal’s long-gone but not-forgotten classics
