Cobra were formed in the early 80’s from the ashes of Talon and managed to gain a cult following posthumously, when collectors and NWOBHM fans started discovering the great music that was contained in the two albums they did, Warriors Of The Dead in 1985 and Back From The dead in 1987. Their debut, ’Warriors Of The Dead’ came up pretty late for NWOBHM standards, in 1985, when generally the genre was fading away. You can hear it on the album as the band si heading for more speed then many of the bands that came before them. The album is also quite raw and unrefined and vocalist, Paul Edmonson, sounds great at times but can also get pretty annoying at other times when his falsettos misses the mark and end up sounding out of tune. The highlight is the tittle track as it contains above moderately paced riffing, a catchy chorus and a great solo and the fast and still catchy Stand With Me. So there might be flaws with this album but it still has a very charming atmosphere, total ’80s sounding. So if you worship 80s underground metal, then its worth checking out as its still a good album though not a great one. Its a very competent Speed/Heavy Metal album that does what it is supposed to do
