The history of Dangerous Age goes as far back as the late 70s when the NWoBHM act was formed in Reading. This band issued two singles, 1980’s Evil Woman and the promotion release Deathbringer in 1983. The band never really took off and folded in 1985. Vocalist Steve Annets and guitarist Michael Hare formed Dangerous Age and signed to Long Island Records. The bands one and only album Troubled Times was released in 1995. The cover artwork was quite dark leaving the impression that this was a much harder album than it actually was. I think most people were expecting a thrash or hardcore album when they saw the sleeve and I think the band missed their audience as this album was overseen back when it was released. The music here is more than decent melodic AOR rock with sweet keyboards and nice guitars. If youre a AOR collector then think Desert Rain, Bedroom Love or the Norwegian band Heaven. The members involved would also release melodic albums with Heartbreaker and Iron Heart. When Dangerous Age fell apart vocalist Steve Annets soon reformed After Dark. If good melodic rock/AOR with solid musicianship is youre thing and wants to find an album that most missed when it was released then this could be it.
