Deathkids from Lindenhurst, New York. In the never ending sea of death metal bands it’s hard to get noticed…so Ken Wootton had an idea….I’ll get my kids (then 12 year old drummer Ken Wootton Jr. and 10 year old Harley Wootton, vocals/guitar/bass) to record a death metal album…the result was the 1995 debut Born In Hell……..Now that’s good parenting! LOL…All joking aside, this release is actually better than a lot of death metal bands I’ve heard in my day.

Wow thanks guys! 15 years later and people still remember us! This is Harley (vox/guitar) from deathkids .. just wanted to clear up a few points. First, the idea for the band wasn’t my dad’s at all. My bro and i had most of the songs that ended up on our first album written before my dad realized what kinda racket we were making in the basement. At the time i thought bands like Testament were godly, i just didnt have any knowledge/playing ability to make up any sort of riffs except death metal. I also realized i couldn’t much sing, so i went with growling (actually the very first Death Kids song recorded had clean singing) i also was a huge Deicide/Cannibal corpse fan at the time. After that my dad started helping us out making demos, promoting, all that. He supported us 100% and backed everything we did. Im so appreciative of that to this day, because for us, this was like our little league, pretty much all i did for fun (and playing old final fantasy games on SNES. those were the days!) He joined the band cause any kids we jammed with were about our age, their parents wouldnt let them tour and whatnot. Our friends volunteered to take crazy pics for the backcover because they wanted to help us out. The guy on these pictures in particular was a big Marilyn Manson fan at the time and helped come up with the looks/ideas (every picture me and my bro ever took for Deathkids was just me standing there thinking look evil).
