Description

The Legend compilation contains all of the works from Deceptor plus some previously unreleased live recordings. The production isn’t the strong point of course because those were really hard times for the Hellenic scene. Deceptor were pioneers in many ways. This band from Thessaloniki in Greece came together in May of 1988 and split up in December of 1991. During the years they have become almost legendary in their home country. The band only released a few cassette demos but these have been bootlegged several times due to demand from their fans. Deceptor had a good singer in Yiannis Koutselinis, a fact that made them stand out from many other Greek bands around the same time. The played their heavy metal with a progressive touch, think Queensryche and Sanctuary. One of the first tracks they wrote were Nemesis and its a slow almost ballad like track where they make a twist and turn in the middle of the track where they ad a great guitar break. Its things like this that makes this band so interesting. As I said the production is obviously demo sounding but this is definitely the best album out there if you want to learn more about this band that could have gotten an international career and record deal if they would have arrived after the grunge wave was over.
