The Book Of Lies (1990) is the third and final chapter in The Book Of Lies trilogy. It all started with Devils Meat in 1987 and then followed by Evil Friendship in 1989. This sinful act from London, England started out playing as if they’re from the wrong side of Germany with their ears pressed to the wall in a desperate attempt to catch whatever drops of ambiguous, nameless, and accidental metal that may have been leaking through the cracks. Musically it was thrash metal dealing mostly in satanic lyrics and, therefore, should not be confused with their L.A.-based, Christian metal namesakes. In the beginning it sounded like Warfare, Venom, with Voivod body parts stitched to it and powered by perhaps Bulldozer’s goofily-grim soul. The band was also known to experiment with gothic, Mercyful Fate-like black metal, as well as ancient doom à la the U.S.’ Pentagram, but, perhaps most notably, featured three active lead singers in members Kris Krowe (bass/vocals), Sin (guitars/keyboards/vocals), and Master Daniels (drums/vocals). Their second album, Evil Friendship, was an interesting and dark album and their anti-Christian aspects continues on their third and final album, The Book Of Lies. Deliverance never rose above underground cult status and, after issuing these three album would vanish without a trace.
