Some days you just feel Satanic. You know how it goes, you just want to blaspheme something. Maybe make a cross out of pretzels and urinate all over it, that sounds 666. But, lacking the necessary do it yourself cross supplies and having bladder problems, there’s always the safe space of Satanic death metal. Why put in any work? Someone’s already done it for you, out there in the world, and one of those someone’s is Demonic Rage. Demonic Rage come from Chile, so after you’ve peeped the cover art of filth you know it has to be good, because South America is the grand mecca of corrupted, revolting death metal of all forms. It’s the only place grind can be taken seriously at least 90% of the time, and if you toss in some Satan there’s no way it can fail. These guys have gone through tons of line-ups changes spanning almost twenty years, and what you have here is a fine mix of essentially everything they’re about. I believe “to the point” would be the phrase to use, but other people call it a compilation. “Omen Of Doom”, aside from sounding stupid in the title, is an impressive collection of demo material, rehearsals, and some live takes. If you’re looking for simple, classic Satanic death metal, this has pretty much everything you’d need. That musty tomb stench that comes from the better bands out of South America, some crosses, black and white, scary logo for a shirt on Thanksgiving to scare the relatives, and yes, Satan. Nothing special, of course, but when was Satan ever special? He’s just Satan, and I’m okay with that. Learn to accept things as they are, and you’ll live better, trust me.
