Den Saakaldtes long-awaited, fourth studio album, Pesten Som Tar Over, was released in 2023, almost 10 years after their Faen I Helvete album. This band is the brainchild of guitarist Sykelig, established back in 2006, after Sykelig relocated from Hellas to Norway. The band started as a one man project but soon included in its ranks members such as Kvarforth (Shining), S. Winter (ex-Gehenna), Seidemann (1349) and Øyvind Hægeland to name a few. The band’s current line up consists of guitarists Sykelig and Fineidet, bassist Skoll (Arcturus, Ved Buens Ende), drummer Tybalt (ex-Pantheon I) and vocalist Svik. Its melodic Norwegian black metal with avantdardish Ved Buens Endian twist. No wonder, it includes their bassist, Skoll. Pesten Som Tar Over is the kind of mature work we have come to expect from this band. There are bits of early Darkthrone, some depressive stuff a lá Shining, and a raw and organic production to lend a cult layer of lo-fi-ness to it all.
