Description
Desolation is a greek black/death metal act that was formed in Salamnia back in 1989. The band recorded a 3-song tape in January 1990, with the intention of releasing it as a split album with Masacre on Unisound Records. However that split never happened and instead the three tracks ended up on a German compilation cd called Weird Tales Of Madness. Guitars and bass on theese early recordings were handed by Necromayhem which were none other than Sakis Tolis of the mighty Rotting Christ. However after this recording Sakis left to concentrate fully on Rotting Christ. These three tracks have now been released as a seperate mini album to celebrate its 30th anniversary. The Empire Of The Damned recording will remind you of some of the first wave of black metal bands such as Venom and Bathory as well as early death metal acts such as Possessed and Morbid Angel. Empire Of The Damned shows that back in the late 80s the band were influenced but the current scene where death metal was evolving out of thrash metal and its very clear that the band were going for quality rather than quantity.
