No doubt vocalist Paul DiAnno earned great respect in the heavy metal scene thanks to his excellent work on the first two albums of Iron Maiden, one of the biggest bands on the planet. Iron Maiden 1980 and Killers 1981 today are considered classic albums, ever present for any fan of the genre. After leaving the maid, DiAnno was immersed in a lot of projects including Gogmagog, Battlezone, Killers and solo projects under the name of both Paul DiAnno and DiAnno. Hard to keep track? Yes and its even harder to keep track on whos playing on what release. In the middle of his career in his band Killers he released this solo album The Worlds First Iron Man (released in April of 1997) and then already in June of the same year another one appeared called As Hard As Iron. Anyway lets stick to this album. On this album Dianno is backed up by a bunch of session musicians. Ofcourse guitarist Lea Hart shall have a special mention as he wrote all the material (besides the covers of course). Other musicians are Killers and Tank guitarist Cliff Evans, Killers drummer Pete Newdeck, Saxon drummer Nigel Glockler, Tank drummer Steve Clarke, drummer Bob Duffy, FM keyboard player Jem Davis while other keyboard work was don by Paul Airey. Additional guitar work was laid down by Dave Denczak, Marcus Thurston, Ewan Salt and Ray Callcut. The album starts off with some covers before heading into a great melodic hard rock album with Diannos distinctive voice. The studio material was recorded at Hatch Farm, Livingston and Vons Studios. The album ends with some live material recorded at The Marquee Club in London.
