Double album on yellow marbled vinyls. Limited 100 copies

Dio’s debut album Holy Diver was the finest hard rock release of 1983 – a stone cold classic from first note to last. The band were winning new fans over on each date on the the supporting tour. The band performed several major rock festivals that year and while Ronald Reagan won his second term as President in November 1983, Mr Dio was still out touring. And during these months of 1983 Dio had gone from an up and coming band to one of the most interesting and talked about new hardrock groups. This album was recorded at Muziekcentrum Vredenburg in Utrecht, Holland on the 4th of December 1983, and the Holy Diver abum has been a success and the band were still performing 6 out of the 9 tracks from that album live. This is a great memento from the very first tour and this late into the tour means tha thte band are as tight as they could be. Stand Up And Shout kicks things off after a haunting intro and some crunching guitar work. Shame On The Night is simply magnificent, brutal, heavy and containing a drum sound to crack ribs. Out next is the now classic Black Sabbath track, Children Of The Sea, which truly is an epic 6 and a half minute piece of total wonder, making the full use of that voice. Everyone else is on top form. After a brief chat with the crowd, it is time for the title track of the album; it’s one of the greatest, fist-pounding and head-banging songs he ever wrote. Rainbow’s Stargazer and another Black Sabbath masterpiece Heaven And Hell follows. This extended version has some completely new parts that makes it more powerful, more intense, and even scarier than ever. At a critical time in the song, huge flames shoot upward from the stage. Rainbow In The Dark continues the proof that there wasn’t a track on the first album that was less than stunning. The heavy, keyboard laden wonder of a track is as impressive today as the day it was released. Man On The Silver Mountain are mixed together with Starstruck, two further gems – absolute classics. One of the highlights are the encore track, Don’t Talk To Strangers, in which Ronnie James starts out singing a mellow and dreamy intro that sets the mood perfectly so that when Vivian Campbell rips into the main riff of this powerful song its nothing but an amazing moment. The track in itself was not even included on many of the dates at the beginning of the tour and then it was tossed around in the setlist before it became a fan favorite and ended up as the final track for most the nights at the end of the tour. Holy Diver Tour is a milestone in heavy metal history but the band would top it just months later. The Last In Line Tour 1984 probably had both Ronnie James Dio and Vivian Campbell at their peak of their powers and during that year Dio performed absolutely magical concerts and the stage set and grown. Buy this an enjoy the voice of heavy metal.
