Granted, only Cal and Rainy were the only original members left at the time this was recorded, and while Bones is missed, guitarist Peter ¨Pooch¨ Pyrthle provides a massive wall of corrosive guitar sound. Plus, the song choice is perfect for the moment it was recorded. But what I appreciate the most is the fact that these live versions are very different from the studio ones, sounding a tad more metal, a period of the band I enjoy as much as the pure hardcore punk sound. They speed up “Realities Of War” to practically the point of white noise and the band knock off 16 songs in 30 minutes and they end the gig with ¨Decontrol¨ where the guitar is cranked sky-high for the grand finale. Guitarist Peter ¨Pooch¨ Pyrthle has to stop the rhythmic riffing to knock off the solos as opposed to them being on added to the recording on the lps and that make that sound sparser but more live and in your face; fantastic.
