Longtime proponents of the grinding, powerful sound of no-frills Swedish death metal, Dismember was originally formed in Stockholm in 1987/1988 as a power trio featuring vocalist/bassist Robert Sennebäck, guitarist David Blomqvist, and drummer Fred Estby. The group recorded a couple of demo tapes, but went on hiatus in late 1989 when Estby left to join Carnage and Blomqvist played with Entombed as a bassist. The Obscure Obscene Unheard album is a must for fans of the band and fans of Swedish death metal in general. What we have here is early rehearsal material that has never been released before, no this is not the demos that have come out on albums that you already should own, this is totally different recordings including unreleased songs that most of you never have heard before. Also as if that wasn’t good enough a great sounding live show from Folkets Hust in Gävle, Sweden on the 9th of February 1991 has been added. February 1991 means that its just after Carnage had disbanded because guitarist Michael Amott had joined Carcass and Blomqvist, Estby, and Carnage vocalist Matti Karki had teamed up with Carbonized bassist Richard Cabeza and given Dismember a rebirth. Its also a month before the band went into Sunlight Studios to record and mix their classic debut album, Like An Everflowing Stream. Of course the sound is a bit rough on the rehearsal material but that only adds balls to the power of the early death metal movement that was happening in Sweden at the time. If you say you love Swedish death metal and dont buy this one then i dont know whats wrong with you.
