In this part of the world you dont run into metal bands from El Salvador that often. The thrash/death metal outfit Disorder started out in 1994 but due to problems finding serious musicians for the line-up the band was put on ice in 2002 after the release of their debut album, Voces De La Tumba. In 2011, Disorder was brought back to life by Jorge Montesino, using the pseudonym Morbid, and his nephew Kevin Orellana, who took the pseudonym Hellbastard. This hooded duo has recorded the band’s second album, En El Rio Del Olvido, using ES Metal Studios in El Salvador. It should be kept in mind that Disorder is the product of just two talented fellows and I admit that I am amazed at how they make this sound like a full band. The music has been carefully crafted without a rushed feel at all. Disorder plays relatively technical and ruthlessly aggressive Thrash Metal with some slight Death Metal overtones (Pestilence’s Malleus Maleficarum comes to mind) and this duo kicks ass on En El Río Del Olvido. Kevin’s throaty and raspy vocals remind me of Martin van Drunen at times but with a more Black Metal type of vocal effect. The whole package works really well and it’s no wonder I seem to pick their album over other albums when I want to entertain myself with some very skilfully played technical Thrash/Death Metal. En El Rio Del Olvido surprised me on many levels so do yourself a favour and check them out. You can thank me later.
