The Swedish-Norwegian black metal entity Dodsfalls third full-length album was released back in 2013. Djevelens Evangelie is a prime example of what black metal should sound like. Its fast, cold, raw and hard-hitting, molded in head-turning surprises and few moments of traditional predictability. The album is full of searing black metal where the guitars has some lo-fi quality which adds to the bleak underpinnings of what usually constitutes true Norwegian black metal. Other areas of Djevelens Evangelie showcase equal parts vicious ferocity and the black n roll stylings not uncommon from fellow countrymen, Taake. This album should enthrall listeners who enjoy both the icy trappings of raw black metal and let this band remind the cynics what the force the second wave of the Norwegian black metal really were.
