A long seven years have passed since the Swedish powerhouse Dream Evil released In The Night and then in 2017 the band unleashed Six. Launched by world renowned producer and guitar wizard Fredrik Nordstorm in 1999 together with bassist Peter Stlfors and vocalist Niklas Isfeldt, Dream Evil made their debut in 2002 with the over-the-top epic, Dragonslayer. Rather than waiting for the dust to settle like so many of their less-motivated peers, the band returned already a year later with Evilized, and then in 2004 with The Book Of Heavy Metal, the album that officially brought the hammer down and put Dream Evil on the heavy metal map. You can hear that the band has evolved during the years and Six is less old school power metal swords and dragons, and more arena rock – it sounds like one of those great albums that could have come out in the 80’s, perfectly preserved in audio amber for our enjoyment in 2017. If you dig rock/metal with catchy/heavy riffs and fun lyrics then you can’t go wrong with this album.
