Description

The Electric Hellfire Club’s eclectic, satanic, psychedelic industrial music debuted in 1994 with the release of their first album, Burn Baby Burn, the EP Satan’s Little Helper. The following year, they released Kiss The Goat and toured extensively with Type O Negative and the Genitorturers. Early in 1996, keyboardist Shane Lassen (aka the Rev. Dr. Luv) was killed in an automobile accident; however, the rest of the group persevered and dedicated that year’s Calling Dr. Luv to him. This was the first single from Calling Dr.Luv and the title track is a cover tune from Kiss “Dr.Love”. Its a tough song to get wrong, and its exquisite, replete with cool backups and Shane (the Rev. Dr. Luv’s Christian name) samples: a faithful yet fresh rendering of the Gene Simmons manifesto. “Mir. 44” is take from the album “Burn Baby Burn” and solicit all the black ritualistic imagery needed to inspire the most affected goth club dancefloor. All the references to the prince of darkness might turn a few folks off, but a literal, humourless translation of Burn Baby Burn probably isn’t exactly what Electric Hellfire Club intended. The single ends with a long remix version of the track “Incubus” which was available in its original form on the album “Kiss The Goat”.

Track list:
