Eleven Pictures from Sweden released their debut album, Flowerland, in 1995 and it got some bombastic reviews so they made an obvious huge impression on the rock press in Europe. The band toured and one of the highlights were their gig at the famous Dynamo Open Air festival. The band started out with a very metallic sound, like a Scandinavian version of Soundgarden, but as they grew the band felt limited in the hardrock community and broaden their perspective and grew as a band. Their second album, Initials, was released in 1997 and the critics called it a far step from Flowerland style-wise but still everybody liked it. The songs here a lighter and poppier and if their debuted sounded more like Soundgarden then this one is more Pearl Jam and Incubus. Vocalist Martin Emil suits this kind of music extremely well. His timbre and intonation is somewhere in-between the singers of the mentioned bands; Cornell, Vedder and Boyd. Fans of grunge music and wants to hear a Scandinavian version of it then check out Eleven Pictures.
