Hong Kong death metal act Evocation was formed back in 2002 and this was the album that started it all. Their debut album, Take Your Soul, was released on cd in 2008 and then re-issued on vinyl in 2018. The music is here is a mix of melodic black metal and death metal. It feels inspired by the mid 90s Scandinavian black and death metal scene. This album was the beginning to their loyal fan base in their homecountry but you can hear that its a band in its beginning. A more mature band would show up in 2013 with their second album Abracadabra in 2013. That album was well received and gain much more attention abroad and even got them booked on the Wacken Open Air Festival in 2014.
