Exclusive to this cd is the never before heard 2001 Excruciate demo track “Decepted By The Church”, originally composed in 1992, as well as two songs of the early project of Excruciate members called Korgüll, “The Mortuary” and “Sabbath”, written in 1990. Excruciate was a Swedish death metal band that formed in Stockholm as a trio in 1988 by Johan Melander together with Carbonized members Per Ax and Henrik Brynolfsson. The bands first demo Mutilation Of The Past was released in 1990 and after that demo Fredik Isaksson (known from Therion and Grave) joined. The band released one more demo Hymns Of Mortality in 1991. Excruciate is one of those awesome old school Swedish bands that never got the full recognition they deserved. Lots of good riffs can be found on this album featuring the two demos and they go all over the place, with constant tempo changes, keeping you on your toes, not knowing where they’ll go next. Fans of Swedish death metal should check this out, however rest assured; this is no Entombed clone, its much better
