Description
At some point shortly after the mid-80's, the 4 members of the now legendary Extra Hot Sauce used to make a habit of going to Jack's (formerly Jack in the Box) for what the restaurant called ‘Taco Tuesday’. Simply, it was 2 for the price of 1 taco. Mmmmm… We had other things in common too: we loved a lot of the same music, and we LOVED getting high. Really, really high. Why the fuck else did we go to Jack's on a weekly basis for a number of years? Anyway, one day, we were so f'n high, we decided to form a band. 2 of us were actually musicians; the other 2…not so much. However, carrying forth the punk ethic we believed in so strongly, we realized that we really didn't have to know how to play OR sing. We marched onward, rehearsing semi-regularly in a friend's basement and wound up with a batch of songs. Being that one of our members had mad connections, he decided to send a demo we put together to the head-honcho at Peaceville Records; a respected underground label in the UK. Said head-honcho decided he wanted us to make an album for the label. We were psyched, and had no illusion about the fact that the only reason we were given the extraordinary $700.00 budget we had been given, was solely because our drummer was a semi-celeb. ‘Taco Of Death’ was released in the UK, and believe it or not, sold almost 10,000 copies. We tried to play a show once, and it turned out to be a mess. The show actually happened – a support slot at L'amour in Brooklyn with Prong, but for one reason or another, the singer didn't show for the big gig. I think he had tennis practice. Thankfully, the legend lives on, and Extra Hot Sauce is embedded in rock history for all eternity. Featuring Danny Lilker (Nuclear Assault, Anthrax, Brutal Truth, S.O.D.) on drums. Glenn Evans of Nuclear Assault acted as producer and contributed lead vocals to a rendition of Led Zeppelins 'Communication Breakdown'. Track listing: 1. Taco Of Death 2. AIDS 3. Hairpie 4.
