Description

Fates Warning has weathered nearly two decades of shifting musical trends with a steadfast fan base. Operating for many years below the trend radar, the group has nonetheless resolutely generated a commendable and ever strengthening catalogue of work, which finally broke into widespread recognition. The Hartford, Connecticut band was initially titled Misfit in their original formation in 1982 but changed their name the year after. A couple of demos in 1984 enabled the band to include a track on the 'Metal Massacre V' compilation album and the resulting appreciation resulting in a long term deal with Metal Blade records. In July 1994 they released their seventh album Inside Out co-produced by Bill Metoyer. This album is considered by many to be the last real Fates Warning album. This is an excellent cd with tracks like Outside Looking In, Pale Fire and Down To The Wire but it has some flaws. Some tracks has the dopey mellow vibe that would be given full play on the following albums. This arent bad tracks but lack the spark that you have come to expect because when they were firing on all cylinders, then there was nobody like them. The closing ballad Afterglow on the album puts a finish to a great career with a nice grace note. With Warlords Mark Zonder on drums Track listing: 1. Outside Looking In 2. Pale Fire 3. The Strand 4. Shelter Me 5. Island In The Stream 6. Down To The Wire 7. Face The Fear 8. Inward Band 9. Monument 10. Afterglow
