Fates Warning has weathered nearly two decades of shifting musical trends with a steadfast fan base. Operating for many years below the trend radar, the group has nonetheless resolutely generated a commendable and ever strengthening catalogue of work, which finally broke into widespread recognition. The Hartford, Connecticut band was initially titled Misfit in their original formation in 1982 but changed their name the year after. A couple of demos in 1984 enabled the band to include a track on the 'Metal Massacre V' compilation album and the resulting appreciation resulting in a long term deal with Metal Blade records. 'Parallels' in October 1991 was the bands sixth album and another fine effort in a similar vein as the previously album ‘Perfect Symmetry’. It saw Fates Warning comfortably delving into more technical territory. Significantly, the group had crafted this opus with producer Terry Brown at Metalworks Studios in Toronto utilising Dream Theater’s James LaBrie guested on the track ‘Life In Still Water’. 'Parallels' had been constructed in unorthodox fashion as subsequent interviews revealed the individual musicians had mailed in taped contributions for Jim Matheos to assemble in the studio. With Warlords Mark Zonder on drums Track listing: 1. Leave The Past Behind 2. Life In Still Water 3. Eye To Eye 4. The Eleventh Hour 5. Point Of View 6. We Only Say Goodbye 7. Don't Follow Me 8. The Road Goes On Forever
