There are some bands holding the flag of Heavy Metal high on a simply and straight forward way: by playing passionate, wild, iron fisting and pounding Heavy Metal. No fake posts on the Internet, no poser and wannabe attitude, no fake words: just FIRE and STEEL. Having not only their name but their music as well inspired by the Fire Spirit, Feanor from Argentina is with no doubt one of those bands. Those who are taking a serious look in today's Heavy Metal scene would be of course aware of this band. But if you are (sadly) belonging to those who have not (still) checked the band out, I may have to inform you about a simple thing: This is their second full length album so be prepare for a battle! From the very first track of the album ("Hacia El Abismo") the band makes it clear. Pure metal and nothing else. Great guitar riffs, killer solos and head banging rhythm. The album includes ten hymns of Steel in the vein of Manowar, Running Wild and Judas Priest. You are a Heavy Metal maniac right? So what else you may ask for? The album is full of classic Heavy Metal riffs (just listen to track like "Amigos" or "Llamas"), you can also hear some pounding parts in a total war mood and some more melodic parts always in the vein of pure Heavy Metal. I really enjoyed the interlude of the song "Bendita Sangre" based on some traditional Argentinean melody. The song would soon turn to a mid tempo anthem enforced by mysterious melodies and leads and a great melodic chorus. Those type of choruses is one of the strong features on the current record. The almost Doom opening riff of "Las Bolas Suficientes" would prepare you for another mid tempo killer tune. I really like the way Feanor are dealing with their riffs, letting them being simple, really Heavy, straight into face and full of Power! I caught myself head banging with this one a lot. Follower track " Noches Duras" is in the same vein, pay some attention to the killer lead parts. What comes next is " Rebelde Sin Cura" which is one of the most catchy songs of the album just listen to its great opening and main riffs. Well you should keep enough power cause the next song called " Kain" is a little Thrash / Speed Metal storm. Yes Feanor wanted to get a little faster perhaps paying a little tribute to Speed and Thrash Metal! The song lasts only two minutes and a half but it will sure overtake you. Yes it is the faster song of the record. After the storm comes the calm with the acoustic "Mis Cristales". "Hellas" hymn is the mighty epilogue of this album. It is written for all the Greek fans of the band, it expresses the friendship and unity that is built around the band and the Greek Metal heads that were standing on the backside of Feanor all those years, supporting in any possible way. Yes this is pure Epic Steel straight in the face of those who not believe. It is a big proof that the fans are the straight power that holds a band high.
