Description
Formed in Kaluga Oblast back in 1993, it’s been a 20 year long road for Festerguts before the release of their first full length album, Heritage Of Putrescent. I must say that after 20 years they do come up with an interesting and well crafted album. This Russian act performs some cool death metal that are quite hard to put a label on. Its brutal but also atmospheric and semi-symphonic and right from the beginning youre knocked by suprise as the opening song Above A Cold Body: Pre-funeral Preparations, where you have brutal death metal with a soprano voice of Viktoria Filth Belchenkova from Solreid. So if you think of fast riff-orientated death metal in the vein of Avulsed, Cannibal Corpse and Deicide and then mixes the guttural voice of Michael Nickolayev with keyboards and a female classical trained operatic voice of Viktoria then you have an album that sounds almost absurd on paper but in reality works really well. This is an album that pushes the bounderies and never lets you down. After 20 years and an album like Heritage Of Putrescent, Festerguts really deserves more recognition then they have received so far
