Description

Flight 19 was yet another of those small-time acts who seems to be remembered by only the people who were close to the members or in some cases people who managed to catch them live. The band recorded three demos between 1982 and 1985 but there are no signs of printed covers or pictures of the demos so maybe the recorded material never was widely spread. Originally formed in 1982 as a 5 piece act in Halifax, West Yorkshire. The band didnt do the normal pub rounds because they had a bigger vision and wanted to perform bigger shows. At one point it seems to have paid off. The band made their live debut in their home town together with Satanic Rites, Rhabstallion and Cyka in front of 400 metal heads and then they landed a support slot opning up for Mamas Boys and Baby Tuckoo. In the spring of 1983, after the first demo had been recorded, the original singer Aussie left and the band continued as a four piece. Two more demos were recorded before guitarist Phil Dawtrey left the band too and the remaining members continued for a number of years as a three piece before calling it a day. Since then guitarist Phil Dawtrey and vocalist, bass player Andy Smith have gotten back together jamming on some old tunes with a new drummer. This Anthology cd features all the 3 studio sessions the band ever did as well as 4 live tracks recorded live at Hoppers in Halifax on the 18th of January 1983. Fans of melodic NWOBHM and good old hard rock will have things to love here
