2000 press in plain white cover

The Crabs were a great and early UK punk band from Great Yarmouth formed back in 1974. The band supported the likes of X-Ray Spex,The Lurkers, Sham 69, The Jam & Siouxsie & The Banshees and many others and regularly played famous punk venues venues like The Roxy & Vortex. The build up an excellent reputation as a live band especially with the shows at Marquee on November 1977 and February 1978. After the second show the band are offered a record deal with Lightning Records and the contract is for an album and two singles. Then things moves quickly and the band are rushed into the studios and the record atleast four tracks Lullabies Lie, Victim, Save My Skin and Blue Unction. The track Lullabies Lie ends up on a compilation album called Farewell To The Roxy while the other three tracks are supposed to be the bands first vinyl single and an advertisement in NME are shown in the March issue of 1978. However the single were never released, some sources claims the single was pressed but no proof of a physical copy has shown up. Lightning Records now shows little interested in their signing but the band are still stuck with their contract just waiting for something to happen. When all are put on hold the bands manager Mike Berry (of Wombles) turns to the Fulham Football Club where he has connections. The football club offers them financial support to release a single but the band cant use their name Crabs due to legal reason with Lightning Records. So they change name to Fulham Furies (back then not many knew who this band were and there were wrong rumours that it was Cocksparrer or even The Lurkers). The single was never released with any sleeve artwork to surround it with even more mystery. The A-side is a phlegmy and energetic version of the Lee Hazelwood tune, These Boots Were Made For Walking while the B-side features an original called Under Pressure. So sad that this band really were doomed when they signed their record contract and never really got their chance and its a bit ironically that the only real vinyl and legacy that excist now is a single dedicated to Fulham FC.
