Description
Gang Green started out as Drunks Against Mad Mothers but changed name in the early eighties. Gang Green were one of those bands who were extremely hard to categorize, they were the self-proclaimed ‘King Of Bands’ on the Boston hardcore scene and they certainly had the sound and the attitude for punk and the first album was released on the independent punk label, Taang. However, their fast songs and brutal riffs were gaining attention in the world of thrash metal – a genre for which Roadrunner Records were notorious for pushing. The third full length album was for the first time recorded outside of their Boston, Massachusetts hometown. Rhode Island was the new setting, with Tom Soares replacing Daniel Rey at the mixing and production table. As the album name would suggest, Gang Green was not about to retreat from, or apologize for, the very pro-drinking stance that the Boston band had constantly taken over its long punk tenure. All the fast-paced odes to partying that fans might expect are present yet again on ‘Older…(Budweiser)’. Overall, the album appeased the hardcore punk fans with its local NYHC-style sound. It also still bore a certain amount of metallic attributes to keep the thrash fans happy. There is no such thing as too much of a good thing. Track listing: 1. Church Of Fun 2. Just One Bullet 3.
