General (General Group/General Egyuttes) is a Hungarian rock band that was formed back in December 1971, by members from Ze-Ge and Ferm. The members were only 20 years except for Revesz Sandor who was only 18 at the time and therefore earned the nickname Kokyok (Calf). In 1973, they released their first album, entitled Stafeta but it was their second album Rockin And Rollin in 1975 that would put the band into the rock n roll history. The group recorded the album in Poland except for the song Everybody Join Us, which was recorded on tape in Dutch studio called Sound Push in May of 1975. The album was released in Poland it immediately sold gold which meant one hundred thousand copies were sold. The Dutch recorded track, Everybody Join Us, was released in Holland and Germany as a single and it hit the Dutch charts and stayed there for several months. With this track the band managed to be the first group from a socialist country to reach the first place in a Western European charts. The band gave warmly greeted concerts in Italy and England and they were at the time compared to other famous Hungarian bands like Illes and Omega. The band would go on and release several more albums some being pop rock and while some being funky.
