You almost have to be a die-hard fan of heavy metal if you shall name 10 heavy metal bands from Switzerland. Krokus and Celtic Frost might be the first two you think of then maybe Coroner, Messiah but after that things starts to get difficult. Still Switzerland had a very active scene but the bands never made it that far. One of those bands were Genocide from Lausanne that released this private pressed ep of fine Euro-metal of its time. Roots In Rock was produced by Dirk Stefffens (yes you should recognize the name as he worked on albums by Helloween, Accept, Running Wild. Pink Cream 69, Sinner and many more). The four tracks here has many similarities with acts such as Accept but then you have a track like The Price Of Treason that really sounds like a left over from Running Wilds Blazon Stone. You would almost think this was handed over to the band from Rock N Rolf. The band would go on and release a few cds that were softer and then they changed name to Sideburn and they now rejects their musical legacy of Genocide because they think the music is to hard. Too bad
