Armed with three Swedish Grammis awards, a U.S. Grammy, and 75 million global streams of its latest album, Prequelle, Ghost announced the European leg of its A Pale Tour Named Death world tour and the band kicked it off on February the 3rd in Lyon, France, where this album is recorded. The magnificent Lyon hall was transformed into a cathedral to welcome A Pale Tour Named Death. Swedish doomsters Candlemass opened the show but it was obvious that the crowd where there to hear Cardinal Copia, who replaced Papa Emeritus, and his ghouls in Ghost. When the absolute darkness in which the room was plunged is torn, to words chanted in Latin, the crowd wakes up. A grandiose setting appears as soon as the curtain falls, with an immense stage unfolded against a backdrop of stained-glass windows. Avalanche of lights and decibels, the Swedes have not done things by halves. Throughout the two hours that the show will last, they will be keen to share their mystical and bombastic universe with Lyonnais. All the classics of the group will be present, from Rats to Miasma, including Cirice, Satan Prayer and He Is. Alternately solemn, Machiavellian or rocker, the now unveiled Tobias Forge, with his face simply grimmed, changes his costume according to the interpretations. The show, divided into two parts, takes place without downtime, taking with it an audience of Lyon already converted. The finale on Monstrance Clock sends home an audience happy to have attended a show of a very high level.
