Picture disc single
In 1982 Gillan released his sixth and final studio album, Magic. One of the tracks the label released as a single was a cover of Stevie Wonder’s 1973 hit Living For The City. The track reached number 1 on the R&B charts when Stevie Wonder made it but Gillan’s version was a spectacular flop that proved that Gillan’s powerful but quirky scream is exclusively suited for the classically influenced but catchy hard rock that made Deep Purple a platinum success. The single was backed up by the none album track Purple Sky
