Godless North from Vancouver, Canada plays true Northern black metal in the veins of early 90s. The zeitgeist of this kind of black metal may have fled in horror from Norway a few years later but several bands came along and picked up the left overs and started it all over again. This band play a timeless, beautiful form of hate-filled, simplistic, darker-than-black metal in its original form. The production, guitar sound…everything on this work just screams out nostalgia, and that’s fine because it captures the spirit of that time in music. Easy summoned, 90% of The Age Of Supremacy is a forgotten brethren of Transylvanian Hunger and Hvis Lyset Tar Oss. If you miss those years when Burzum and Darkthrone were able to record isolationist, cold and misanthropic black metal then look no further.
