The title Guns N Roses Family Tree might fool someone to think this is an actual Guns N Roses album. Well it really isnt as theres only one track on here that is by Guns N Roses and that is Nice Boys which is performed with the original line-up of Axl, Slash, Duff, Izzy and Steven. The rest on here is a mix of rare pre-Guns N Roses tracks, tribute tracks and other material featuring Guns N Roses members current and former. For example we have 3-tracks from the Hollywood Rose January 1984 demo. Hollywood Rose was a band featuring Axl Rose, Izzy Stradlin, Chris Weber and Johnny Kreis. Theres also a Hollywood Rose track here featuring Teddy ZigZag that played keyboard on some tracks on Use Your Illusions 1. Teddy has also played with Stephen Pearcy, Alice Cooper and Ryan Roxie. Another Hollywood Rose tracks is a cover version of Thin Lizzy’s Jailbreak featuring Mick Taylor of Rolling Stones. Then we have 3 tracks recorded over the years with Slash or Duff playing with other people like Elected, No More Mr Nice Guy and Gipsy. Then we have a lot of material featuring Tracii Guns and also with his band L.A. Guns. Tracii Guns were part of the early years and hre the label makes a big connection between Guns N Roses and L.A. Guns. When L.A. Guns makes a Def Leppard or Bon Jovi cover then its hard to hear the Guns N Roses connection. The tribute tracks are what they are. Its fun to have artists such as Kevin Dubrow (Quiet Riot), Stephen Pearcy (Ratt), Spike (Quireboys) and John Corabi (Motley Crue) singing Guns N Roses material but not many, or in fact none of them, sounds like Axl Rose. No matter what you think about this album it still features some cool stuff here for the hardcore GNR fan and its rare since it was only released in Argentina and Mexico
