In 2022 Gwar returned with an album full of destruction and dastardly deeds. Worth it’s weight in crack, this is the soundtrack for The New Dark Ages. The album is loosely based on their graphic novel which is on sale in comic book stores simultaneously. If you think the band died with the death of singer Odorous and the guitarist, Maximus, then you have to re-think. Yes some of their releases after those incidents hasnt been that good but this one rocks. One of the better ones after their classics America Must Be Destroyed, Violence Has Arrived and Scumdog. There’s some good social commentary on current event in the lyrics. Ratcatcher has to be the best interpretation of the Pied Piper fairy tale ever, told in a way only Gwar could tell it. If you haven’t been in touch with Gwar in awhile, this one will bring you back into the fold.
