Description

A rare and limited vinyl featuring the live show with Heavy Pettin recorded at the Metal Hammer festival at the Freilichtbuhne in Loreley, St Goarshausen in Germany on the 14th of September 1985. The German metal magazine Metal Hammer was founded in 1983 and the first issue was released in January of 1984 and it was printed in 50 000 copies. The Metal Hammer festival that was held on the 14th of September of 1985 was the first festival arranged by the magazine and it had approx 30 000 visitors. The line-up for the day included Venom, Running Wild, Nazareth, Warlock, Wishbone Ash, Pretty Maids, Heavy Pettin, Savage Grace, Restless, Tyran Pace and the still little-known Metallica. Heavy Pettin had just released their second album the rather patriotic ‘Rock Ain’t Dead’ when they returned to Europe to perform at this festival. Heavy Pettin were at their top at this time. The band had released two strong albums and this show features their original frontman Steve ‘Hammie’ Hayman with his high pitched vocals. The band performs the best tracks from their first two albums and the live show is driven by some truly incredible leads and melodies. We all know that they would go for a radical career diversion after their second album (which lost them much of their fan base) but back in 1985 they really could blow you away like dynamite.
