For all of you who do not know, Heljareyga is Heri Joensen’s side project. You know, Heri Joensen, lead singer of TYR. He is back following the 2009 album, By The Light Of The Northern Star heading his new band. Aside from Heri (vocals and guitar), the band consists of John Ivar Venned (guitar), Amon Djurhuus (drums), Ken Johannesen (guitar) and Isak Petersen (bass). All are Faroese natives and they kick some serious ass. The entire album is in the Faroese language but unlike TYR it is a bit more of a modern fast paced progressive metal album. You will definitely hear similarities with TYR but it is a distinct sound. The musicianship may actually exceed that of TYR and, as any self-respecting TYR fan will tell you, that is saying a lot. TYR fans rejoice! Heljareyga is here! Heri Joensen is on the top of his game. Very, very highly recommended.
