Chicago based band High Spirits have not one, but both feet firmly planted in the past. This could easily be a double A-Side from the height of the NWOBHM. Both tracks are pretty accessible, solid chunks of heavy rock. The melody here is the key, the choruses are catchy and lead guitar lines compliment the tracks well. The solos are particularly worth mentioning because they dont stand out too much; they feel like a natural part of the song. A skill in song construction often neglected in todays era of constant twin-guitar shred-offs. The two songs are energetic with an upbeat feel-good sound overall.
