Description
Hjalle And Heavy was a duo consisting of Hjalmar Östman and Jonas Stentäpp from Dalarna who became known after participating in the TV show “På Rymmen” (On The Run) during two seasons (autumn of 1997 and spring of 1998). The program had a maximum of 1.7 million viewers. Each week they made a song that was about the so-called bloodhound who persecuted them. The songs were played in the radio program “Önska” (Want) on Swedish Radio channel P3. Hjalle And Heavy released three albums during this time. The first album, På Rymmen, was released before the second season of the program, and quickly became the number 1 album. It sold 80 000 copies and was at the first place on the charts for four weeks. The second disc, “2 Säsongen” (Second Season) sold even better, 120 000 copies, and the duo topped the Swedish charts once more, and the Hjalle And Heavy hysteria was a fact. They travelled around the country for a summer tour and played in public parks. In June, the tour premiered at Liseberg in Gothenburg before an audience of 11,000 people. Both Hjalle and Heavy plays in the punk act Mimikry and Heavy also has another punk metal act called Dökött (Dead Meat). Members from these two acts were backing the duo up on their summer tour. Their third and final album, Dunder (Thunder), came out in November of 1998, but didnt gain the same success as the first two discs despite selling in an amazing 40,000 copies.
