Plenty of metal bands, especially of the more extreme variety, experimented on one or more albums in the early to mid 1990s, yet few if any reached the utterly strange, esoteric atmosphere Hybernoid brought us with their debut album, The Last Day Begins. To be fair, Hybernoid weren’t a typical death/doom act that experimented on one album; they were fucking weird straight from the get-go and never really stopped being so. Combining death/doom with an atmosphere that’s heavily influenced by shoegaze, the album actually manages to sound even more out there than that combination suggests. That’s likely because it’s not run-of-the-mill death/doom combined with run-of-the-mill shoegaze; both elements tend to stray from the norm in and of themselves. This single was released as a taster from their album. The A-side features a track from the album whille the B-side is exclusive track for this album and its a pure doom death track which makes you think it could be a much older tracks as it sounds more like the bands early demo material. If you want to check out Hybernoid then you will run into some cool stuff and some odd weird stuff so you better have a high tolerance for all things esoteric.
