Ian Gillan quit Deep Purple for the second time in 1989 and immediately went out on the road testing musicians for a new band. Gillan signed to EastWest records and had put together a band of respected musicians by the end of the year. July 1990 saw the release of Gillans tenth studio album and the first since 1982. The album was well received by the press but the high sales that were expected didn’t materialise. ‘Naked Thunder’ wasn’t quite as aggressive, nor as heavy as the earlier Gillan albums and it seems a bit more matured. Some of the songs on this disc, like 'Talking To You' could have fit on some of the newer Deep Purple discs, but overall this is much more mellow and pop/rock oriented than his previously work. But many of the songs on this disc are some of the most solid material he have written during the years. Gillan is a legend and his voice is one of the most recognizable in rock history. Worth checking out. Japanease Pressing with OBI strip. Tracklist: 1. Gut Reaction 2. Talking To You 3. No Good Luck 4. Nothing But The Best 5. Loving On Borrowed Time 6. Sweet Lolita 7. Nothing To Lose 8. Moonshine 9. Long And Lonely Ride 10. Love Gun 11. No More Cane On The Brazos
