Back in 1999 the New York scene was filled new and up-coming bands that were into technical and brutal death metal that was more readily detached from thrash metal than the Floridian variety. With that, it seems, comes a colder, more nihilistic approach as opposed to wrath and rage. Such descriptors are especially a dead ringer for the mighty Immolation, one of the most consistent and calculating purveyors of blasphemous death metal. The two tracks on this limited shaped picture disc are taken from that time, namely from Immolations 1999 album Failures For Gods. The A-side features the epic title track, truly one of those classic death metal masterpieces. The B-side The Devil I Know is a doomy, somber and bitter cut that serve as the soundtrack for the flames totally engulfing the ruins created by the title track on the A-side.
