Description

More than twenty years ago in the frozen metropolis of St Paul, Minnesota, the blood soaked heavy metal band Impaler was born. The band quickly gained attention for their onstage horror movie based theatrics, complete with cages, pyro and more blood usage than a good day on a movie set with Lucio Fulci. Their early demo tape called Vicious Demos was quickly in demand, eventually resulting in a record deal with the mighty Combat Records. The release of Rise Of The Mutants and If We Had Brains…We’d Be Dangerous led to the band’s first tour called the Brainless Mutants Tour and their first video for the song Blood Bath. Also, in the 80’s during one of Tipper Gore’s little tyrades, the PMRC formed and had Impaler on their most hated list of offensive Metal bands. Did that stop them? Hell no!! 1988 proved a difficult year for Impaler with constant line up changes. The second full length album Wake Up Screaming was laid down, quite bizarrely, at Princes Paisley Park studios. The record, included amongst its grooves a take on the MC5’s ‘Kick Out The Jams’, would see release in 1990 through the small local Channel 83 label. The distribution was poor and the band was struggling to achieve momentum at this point and recognising this Lindsey duly put Impaler on ice until a Halloween reunion gig four years later. Due to the small amount pressed this is the rarest of all Impaler cds
