Originating from the Russian wastelands, Inferius Torment has been around for some time (2003). Your god Liar (the non � capital g bears its symbolism) is their one and only full length album up to date (released in 2008). Standing on the verge between modern approach and traditional subculture, this black metal entity hails Satanism, hate, wrath, and blasphemy. The album features 9 compositions; the ambience is cold, the output is raw. Two are the intriguing key characteristics: the thing is, the band sound both traditional/oldschool/satanic (e.g. Enslavement Christianitys intro), yet synchronous (this actually has to do with the whole approach, exemplified in songs as Primordial Hate). They definitely shoulder their influences (early 90s onwards), but, their ideas are more vivid, fresher, resonating with an alternate perspective of today�s fundaments. Additionally, Inferious Torment is a band that has confidence in its beliefs (the musical ones aside): through music, they convey their theoretical capstone, the very substructure that fuels their inspiration. To be more precise, Inferious Torment ideals on religion, the very humanity theyre part of too, are an inextricable part of their music. They perform because of those beliefs, and for them. Practically speaking, this release is as rifforiented as one can get. Riffing (Morbid) is the axis; all rest (vocals included) come in aid, revolve around it. Considering the riffing, this is alternate-picking based. Cliché ideas occur too, but in general terms, the album�s fundament is well structured. Technically speaking, the band is not technical. They are not tight performers, on the contrary, they rather sound sloppy. This feeling (they are not that sloppy, they sound so) is mainly reinforced by the piercing, highpinched sound (of the guitar). Inferior�s vocals are rather interesting, with its distant, emotional charged screaming at bright moments. His vocals are more of an aggressive black metal singing, with double vocal lines having been recorded at times (e.g. Primordial Hate). The bass (Sordes) has its ups and downs: so, being distinguishable throughout the whole album is appreciated, but the fact that the bass lines are identical to the guitar ones is a drawback, nevertheless. On the drumming (at the time Blastbitch held the role), the blastbeat technique is encaged in a never-ending circle. An alternate rhythm pattern comes up rarely, and this rhythm structure recycling is tiring. Russian is the blasphemy extracted from this album. The bands black metal is satanic to no end, raw and of an old school blasphemy. Those who hail the mentioned above, shall be satisfied with your god Liar. Inferious Torment invites one to merge with their own truth.
