Double album on black vinyls with gatefold cover. Limited 350 copies

Inner Wish return to the scene (after 6 years) with new vocalist George Eikosipentakis and 67 minutes of all new music. The 20 year veteran Greek metallers are led by guitarist, main songwriter and producer Thimios Krikos (who just released the Diviner debut in late 2015). Once again mixed by Fredrik Nordstrom and Henrik Udd and mastered by Peter In De Betou, the end result is a very satisfying and balanced recording that fans of both old school metal, melodic metal and the newer speedy German/Euro power metal will enjoy. These guys do a great job at mixing the influences (Iron Maiden, Accept, Helloween, Symphony X, Stratovarius, Savatage, etc.), the tempos, the dynamics (many acoustic guitar moments interspersed), the melodies, the catchy choruses yet all the while keep it squarely in the metal realm. This means there is plenty of guitar crunch, plenty of thundering double bass, plenty of aggression but it’s all nicely balanced with clear vocal melodies and softer, more open sections. And the new singer George E delivers in this regard – he nicely powers the stronger/driving sections with his soaring voice, yet he can tone it down (“Cross the Line”) beautifully. And on the symphonic closer “Tame the Seven Seas” he is able to incorporate all of that into one song. I think it is fair to say that with their 5th release, Inner Wish have delivered the whole package and probably their best to date. Really there is something here every fan of the melodic brands of metal can embrace, but obviously fans of the above mentioned bands, as well as label mates Diviner and Millennial Reign of course, will really love this release. I love it.
